I am interested in the contrasting elements of the material. Hatched versus plain, rough versus smooth, flexible versus brittle. The result is a sculptural shape, based on an Oloid, that represents these contrasting elements whilst retaining a feeling of completeness.
Simple, round, cut grooves creating sharp edges, the contrast from inside to out, and deep cuts in repetition that allow for a flowing element in the shape. It has become both a study of aesthetics and structure.
